Man opens fire on robber
ABC 7 reported that around 2 a.m. last Wednesday, a 32-year-old man armed with a sharp object attempted to rob a 65-year-old man who has since been identified as Charles Foehner in his driveway in Kew Gardens, Queens. The would-be robber was reportedly after both money and cigarettes, according to police.
Unfortunately for the younger man, however, Foehner pulled out a silver pistol and opened fire on his attacker, shooting him five times. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene and Foehner immediately surrendered to police.
Foehner has since been charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm. He is affected by these charges despite the fact that the 32-year-old robber had a long criminal record that included theft, burglary, drug possession and other related charges.
Charles Foehner’s wife leaves court after her husband is charged with 26 gun charges.
Investigators say they found an arsenal of weapons in a couple’s apartment, including AK-47s and body armor.

Neighbors assist Foehner
The community has already begun to rally behind Foehner, saying he should not be charged with defending himself.
“He was protecting himself. So how can I blame him?” said neighbor Vercelle Evans. “You know, unfortunately the man had to lose his life. I don’t wish that on anyone. But these are the circumstances where you randomly rob people. You never know what you’ll get.”
“If a video shows that he acted in self-defense and the man was actually trying to harm him, then I believe we should be able to protect ourselves,” added Angel Rodriguez, who lives nearby. foehner’s hall.
Rodriguez also had nothing but kind words when asked about Foehner.
“Very friendly, respectful. I’ve never seen anything from him that could indicate malice,” Rodriguez said. “So my interactions with him have always been pleasant. Nice guy. Family man.”
Before the indictment was announced, Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz admitted the case was complicated.
“This is a complicated case and we are going to look at the evidence,” she said. “We just went to the crime scene. I’ll have comments for you after we investigate.

Foehner defends himself
Foehner, a retired doorman, has defended the actions he took in this robbery.
‘I took the gun out of my pocket’ he said. “It didn’t go off by accident. I pulled the trigger. I emptied the revolver. Last night I carried a gun because of the crime in the city… I’ve had it since the 1990s. I obtained it one night in a bar. The firearms are mine and mine alone.”
Crime is on the rise in New York City, which is led by increasingly radical liberals. Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) recently described New York as “a city that has lost its way…here in Manhattan, the scales are weighed down by politics. For the prosecutor, justice is not blind, it is about looking for opportunities to advance a political agenda: a radical political agenda,” said NPR.

The charges brought against Foehner are just more evidence that awake lawmakers are more interested in protecting criminals than protecting American citizens. Foehner’s next trial is scheduled for today, and it remains to be seen how that will turn out for him.
