In the wake of last week’s CNN town hall event featuring former President Donald Trump, ABC “The View” host Sunny Hostin went on a tirade at CNN for allowing the broadcast, but Florida Republican Byron Donalds berated Hostin for her “authoritarian” views and issued a challenge.
Hostin protested CNN’s decision to hold a town hall-style event featuring Trump well ahead of last week’s broadcast. On the Thursday before the broadcast, she exploded at CNN for the upcoming show and said, “I don’t think you’re giving that type of person a platform. You do not do that.”
Hostin also continued her tirade a day after CNN aired, berating her own co-hosts for interrupting her screed against Trump and CNN.
“I think you don’t give a bigot, a racist, a misogynist, a liar, a cheater, a sex abuser and a slanderer a platform of 3 million people, and I’m sad,” she said. Weekly entertainment.
Hostin was also furious that CNN hosted Anderson Cooper defended Trump’s town hall.
Cooper expressed the idea that we should listen to the other side of the political debate, even if we think it’s outrageous. “You have every right to be outraged and angry today and never look at this network again. But do you think if you stay in your silo and only listen to people you agree with, that person will go away?”
“If we all listen only to those with whom we agree, the opposite may be the case,” he concluded.
Hostin, for her part, was disgusted by that reasoning.
“I worked for CNN for quite some time, Anderson Cooper has been my friend for over 20 years and I am sad that he tried to mock me yesterday,” Hostin said after Cooper warned people not to live in a political bubble. , according to Entertainment Weekly. “We know who this man is, we learned who this man is, and we didn’t have to see what we saw. I think that town hall will be studied in journalism schools across the country on what not to do. It has not been properly fact-checked.”
Oddly enough, even Joy Behar, Hostin’s usually equally extremist left-wing cohost, noted that if Trump became the GOP nominee, CNN would have to get in touch with him at some point.
But now that Hostin’s position was clear, Rep. Donalds, a two-term Republican congressman from Florida, was baffled by her attacks on CNN for broadcasting Trump’s town hall and shocked by her obvious authoritarianism.
During a visit to Fox News, Donalds taunted, but also challenged, Hostin.
“Sunny Hostin and people on the left like her, that shows her authoritarian mindset. Where she wants to tell everyone that she believes in democracy, well, part of our democracy is being able to speak up and not be shut down,” Donalds told Fox.
“Sunny doesn’t want that and unfortunately too many people on the left, they don’t want a debate, they don’t want all the voices to be heard, they want to pick and choose who is heard. That is an authoritarian mentality,” he added.
And in his tweet of the video, Representative Donald added: “Sunny and leftists like her are demonstrating the authoritarian mindset to silence their opposition and choose who has a voice. The party of ‘saving democracy’ is really the party of authoritarianism.”
He also challenged by saying “Sunny, invite me to The View and let’s talk.”

Donalds didn’t just give his stance on Fox. He also took his points to CNN itself when he joined a panel to discuss the Trump broadcast and blame CNN for its focus on everything but the years since Trump left office. He noted that Americans don’t care about 2020. They want to talk about the fentanyl crisis, crime, the price of gas and groceries, and all the other problems Biden has brought to America.
The American people are not talking about the 2020 election, a liability case after more than 25 years, or January 6.
They talk about the price of gas/groceries, fentanyl killing Americans between 18 and 45, street crime and the fear of WWIII.

Donalds is an eloquent speaker for the GOP position, so it seems unlikely that Hostin and the hosts of “The View” will accept his challenge. But the Republicans need more people like Donalds speaking out to oppose the long march of the far left.
