Disney+ and Hulu are two of the biggest streaming services on the market, and they were pretty close. Well, as if no one expected it, Disney+ and Hulu will eventually merge into one app. This process is also quite fast.
It’s hard not to expect this as Disney+ moves from Hulu together. There is the Disney+ Hulu bundle where you can add a Disney+ subscription to your Hulu account. Also, both Hulu and Disney+ increased their prices at the same time. Thing is, Disney owns a portion of Hulu, so they’re very close in business.
Disney+ and Hulu will merge into one app
Streaming services that merge into one app are not possible. Currently, HBO MAX and Discovery+ are in the process of merging into one service called MAX. In the case of Disney+ and Hulu, according to Droid lifeDisney announced this during his Earnings Report Q2 2023.
That part of the presentation was pretty short, but in a nutshell, Disney plans to merge Disney+ and Hulu into one service to provide a more streamlined streaming service. The report also says this is to provide more advertising opportunities.
The real kicker here is how quickly Disney wants to include this. According to the report, Disney wants this merger to be completed by the end of 2023. That’s in just seven full months. That’s pretty wild considering that prices for Disney+ have recently gone up. So it will be another substantial change for Disney+ and Hulu customers in the coming months.
We’re pretty sure Disney+ users don’t want any more changes to their monthly bills. In any case, we are still in the dark about many details. We have no idea how much this new service will cost, what it will be called, or how it will affect the available content. We will have to wait for more information on this merger.
