An Indiana police department fired an officer after just two days for racist social media posts he posted before he was hired, according to local news reports.
Chaz Foy started working for the Marion Police Department on Monday, according to a Facebook message from the departmentbut was fired on Wednesday, Police Chief Angela Haley said in a rack.
Haley said “some racist posts” on the officer’s personal Facebook account were brought to her attention on Tuesday. After reviewing them, she said, she determined they were “not up to the standards of the Marion Police Department.”
“I do not condone or tolerate this type of behavior,” Haley added.
Marion-based newscast Channel 27 News and Entertainment for Grant County said it had initially received the officer’s mail and forwarded it to police on Tuesday evening.
A screenshot shared by Channel 27, an alleged post from June 1, 2022, showed Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin kneeling on George Floyd’s neck.
The caption read, “With gas reaching 4.89 and climbing, let’s all take a moment to appreciate better times.”
Another screenshot shows an alleged message from Foy on April 13, 2021, in which an image of a black man was labeled “Martin Looter King.”
