Denver police responded to a report of shots fired Wednesday afternoon at the Cherry Creek Shopping Center, the report was unfounded, police said.
Police responded to a report of shots fired at around 2 p.m. at the busy downtown area, 3000 E. 1st Ave., said Jay Casillas, a police spokesman.
“It appears the incident was groundless,” Casillas said. “It’s possible it was the sound of popping balloons” in the mall.
Multiple police vehicles and officers quickly responded to the report as part of a general security measure.
