A well-cooked, perfectly seasoned turkey is the centerpiece of most Thanksgiving Day tables each year on the fourth Thursday in November. With most stores staying closed once again on Thanksgiving Day, your guests might spend more time grazing throughout the kitchen, and that means keeping everything stocked and ready. Once you add up all the extra sides and fixins’ that go with it, your grocery budget is likely blown for the next month.
According to the USDA’s National Turkey Retail Report in 2022, whole turkeys cost around $1.55 a pound, which was significantly higher compared to the same time frame in 2021 when turkey cost approximately $1.23 per pound. So, finding ways to save money and feed your family a feast made for a king is a top priority heading into the holiday season.
Fortunately, plenty of retailers are giving away free turkeys in November to members of their loyalty rewards programs or customers meeting the minimum spending threshold. Most of these programs are free to join (except for warehouses and subscription plans) — and to get a free turkey, you just have to cash in those loyalty points or spend the minimum amount.

Grocery Stores With Reduced Thanksgiving Holiday Prices
Plenty of grocery stores are offering “inflation-proof” Thanksgiving meals. Here are some of them that have revealed their Thanksgiving prices:
On Oct. 18, Aldi announced it would have a “big helping of savings on over 70 holiday food classics.” Starting Nov. 1 and throughout the entire holiday season, Aldi shoppers will see price reductions of up to 50% storewide, including seasonal favorites like gravy, potatoes, green beans, cranberries and pumpkin pie, as well as staples like butter and flour.
From now until Nov. 12, take $50 off Costco‘s Fortune Gourmet Thanksgiving Dinner, which serves eight people and includes a 5-pound turkey breast, stuffing (2 pounds), mashed potatoes (1.5 pounds), turkey gravy (8 ounces), macaroni and cheese (1.25 pounds) and two 8-inch pies. Shop Kroger stores to save $30 on holiday meat when you spend $175 or more, or save $20 on holiday meat when you spend $125 or more until Nov. 23 for delivery through Nov. 25.
Customers can shop for turkeys at Meijer and get special savings through Nov. 25, including:

Once again, Walmart is offering savings on holiday meal prep. Starting Nov. 1 and lasting through Dec. 26, prices will be even lower than last year. Walmart will have two Thanksgiving meal options: one for customers who like to cook from scratch and one for customers who prefer ready-to-bake options. Holiday favorites include turkey for under $1 a pound, ham, stuffing and pumpkin pie. Plus, get 10% cash back until Oct. 31.
