YouTube Music is always adding new features and UI changes to keep the experience fresh. According to 9To5GoogleYouTube Music has just revamped the Now Playing UI and added a new feature to make certain features more accessible.
The Now Playing user interface is what people interact with the most on YouTube Music. It provides a quick overview of some key features such as saving music to playlists, viewing lyrics, finding related songs, etc. The company recently revamped the Now Playing user interface, so it’s a bit of a surprise to see another change.
YouTube has revamped the Now Playing user interface again
Although this change comes not too long after the last change, it is not very significant. Most of the interface has been left unchanged and only a few things have been moved.
First, the title and artist names are left-aligned instead of centered. This unfortunately leaves a lot of empty space under the album cover. The song title used to be flanked by “like” and “dislike” buttons. However, they are now just below the stage name.
Perhaps the most notable change is the addition of several tokens that sit on a carousel under the artist’s name. The carousel contains the primary features you would find in the three-dot menu.
In the screenshot we see the buttons Save to playlist, Share, Download and Radio as chips. If you want to see more features, just swipe left.
The other changes are very minor. The play/pause button is solid white as opposed to the album art color. The progress bar is also slightly lower.
Overall, therefore, not much has changed in the user interface. We’re not quite sure what the rest of the features on the carousel will be. This could probably affect the three-dot menu at the top, which makes certain functions accessible with a single tap. If you’re looking forward to this change, make sure your app is fully updated.
