A stretch of Colorado 71 on the Eastern Plains has reopened after a liquid tanker carrying ethanol crashed and rolled over.
The tanker spilled its “entire cargo” and 71 was closed from Limon until Last Chance, the state patrol said shortly before 1 p.m. CSP advised drivers to find an alternate route.
The stretch of north-south highway that was closed is approximately 37 miles. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
The highway reopened in both directions around 6:45 p.m., the Colorado Department of Transportation said.
Avoid Hwy 71 from Last Chance to Limon. Overturned fuel tanker is currently spilling its full load. H71 will be closed soon, find an alternative route. S54
