It’s been a strong season for Manchester United in which Erik ten Hag guided the legendary team back to the Champions League with a third place. However, now that they are in the Champions League it is important to improve their depth. They won’t be able to rotate as much in Champions League matches and Marcus Rashford can’t play as many minutes as he’s been. With Lisandro Martínez recovering from a season-ending injury and plenty of players due to leave this summer, it has all it takes to be a busy time for the Red Devils.
This is a team that expects to challenge for Premier League titles and as it is currently assembled, that is not possible Manchester City jumped ahead of the team. Of from Arsenal improvement, and Newcastle United’s revitalization, just staying in the top four would be a successful season for Manchester United, but with the right additions they can bridge the gap in the league.

July 5 — Mason Mount is a Manchester United player, the playmaker who joined from Chelsea in an initial £55 million deal with a potential £5 million in add-ons. The 24-year-old, who will wear the number 7 shirt at Old Trafford, has signed a five-year contract with an option for a further 12 months.
“It’s never easy to leave the club you grew up in, but Manchester United will be an exciting new challenge for the next phase of my career,” said Mount. “Having competed against them I know how strong the team I’m joining is, and I can’t wait to be part of this group’s drive to win big trophies.
“Everyone can see that the club has made great strides forward under Erik ten Hag. After meeting the manager and discussing his plans, I can’t look forward to the next few seasons and I’m ready for the hard work that will be put in here. I’m hugely ambitious. I know how great it feels to win big trophies and what it takes. I’ll do everything I can to experience that again at Manchester United.”
Al Nassr and United fight for Onana
July 5 — Manchester United have made an opening bid to Inter for Andre Onana, believed to be worth around £40 million. However, he has received a lucrative offer from Al Nassr as the Saudi giants look to lure one of the sport’s best goalkeepers away from both Inter and United. Onana, whose superb form led Inter to the Champions League final in June, is Al Nassr’s first-choice goalkeeping target and they are confident they can strike a deal with Inter quickly, putting the ball in the Cameroonian’s field to determine whether he wants to hold out for a move to Old Trafford.
De Gea contract crisis
June 27 — It has long seemed a matter of when, not if, De Gea’s contract would be extended. All sides agreed that a pay cut on the goalkeeper’s current £375,000-a-week deal was the right thing to do, but what has come next is quite remarkable. That’s what athletics is saying that De Gea had not only agreed to new terms, he had also signed a contract. The problem is that United have not done so and have instead returned with a counter-offer at an even lower salary that the 32-year-old has not yet agreed to. His current term expires on June 30.
With Onana in their sights, it is perhaps no surprise that United are looking to cut costs for a player whose on-ball limitations mean he is better suited to a back-up role. However, their actions to convince De Gea to take a pay cut and then ask him for an even bigger pay cut are unlikely to impress many in the market.
United in talks for Hojlund
June 15 — As Manchester United continued their search for the new striker, a new profile emerged as they looked for alternatives to Kane. Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund is a potential target, but the Danish striker will not be easy at all. In fact, Hojlund joined Austria’s Sturm Graz team last summer in a deal worth around €17 million and he didn’t disappoint in his debut season, scoring 10 goals and providing four assists in 34 appearances. Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Manchester United will soon make a bid, while Atalanta has already set the €60 million price tag to sell the talented striker. Hojlund also recently signed with the agency SEG, which also represents Manchester United coach Erik ten Hag.
United says they are withdrawing Harry Kane pursuit
14th of June — One name United would have improved immediately is Harry Kane, as Tottenham’s talisman could move after Tottenham failed to qualify for European football. Kane scored 30 league goals last season and is one of the most consistent strikers in the Premier League, so it’s clear why United would covet him, but price appears to be a problem and now United have reportedly pulled out of the race for hom. Daniel Levy is always a tough negotiator. United are already 29 and don’t want to break the bank for Kane, especially with his contract set to expire next season. Of Victor Osimhen also costing nearly £150m, it won’t be cheap to find a forward on the market, but as the summer progresses someone will move in and set the market.
