Outlander has made a name for itself as a series full of fiery romance and bloody events. The characters have travelled not only across countries but also across time, taking part in political intrigue, wars and uprisings.
Now, the eighth instalment of the saga about 20th-century nurse Claire and 18th-century Scottish Highlander Jamie is on its way. Work on the new episodes has already begun, and we’ve gathered the most essential information about the upcoming season.
Outlander season 8 potential release date
The release date of the show’s eighth season hasn’t been set.
However, we do know that the second part of Outlander season 7 will be released in November 2024. Therefore, season 8 probably won’t premiere until late 2025 at the earliest.
The new season will consist of 10 episodes.
Outlander season 8 plot
The eighth season will be based on Diana Gabaldon’s ninth book, Go Tell The Bees That I’m Gone. Set during the American Revolutionary War, the story follows Jamie and Claire as they struggle to keep their family together.
Diana Gabaldon plans to publish one more book in the Outlander series. The tenth volume is untitled, and its release date remains unknown. However, the writer might have revealed some plot details to the series creators so they could implement them into the script of season 8.
Outlander season 8 cast
Knowing the plot of Go Tell The Bees That I’m Gone, we can predict who will appear in the next season of Outlander. We expect that the following cast members will reprise their roles:
- Caitríona Balfe – Claire
- Sam Heughan – Jamie
- Sophie Skelton – Brianna
- Richard Rankin – Roger
- John Bell – Ian Fraser Murray
- Charles Vandervaart – William Ransom
- David Berry – Lord John Grey
Sadly, Tobias Menzies, who played a double role as Claire’s modern-day husband Frank, and Black Jack Randall, Frank’s ancestor, won’t return in season 8, despite his character’s presence in the ninth book.
Will there be Outlander season 9?
No. The eighth season will conclude the time-bending love story of Jamie and Claire.
