Skims has officially launched its new app and loyalty program for U.S. shoppers. And we, as U.S. shoppers, are super stoked. Here’s why.
The Skims brand is known for its wide range of sizes, offering options from XXS to 5XL, and its shapewear, which comes in nine different shades to reflect various skin tones. Besides shapewear, Skims expanded its collection to include loungewear, lingerie, and super cute accessories. But the thing Skims hasn’t had is a way to reward its legions of fans and loyal shoppers — until today.
The launch of the Skims Rewards loyalty program comes on the heels of the new (and long overdue) Skims app release. Shoppers can’t sign up for Skims Rewards anywhere except through the Skims app, which is 100% free to download and 100% free to join.
Here’s everything you’ll want to know about joining Skims Rewards:
What Is Skims Rewards?
Skims Rewards is like other store loyalty programs you’ve come to love. There are two Skim Rewards tiers: Marble and Onyx.
Marble is pretty much what regular Skims shoppers are probably used to getting anyway, just now exclusives come via its mobile app, like app-exclusive drops and promos. You’re still getting free shipping on orders over $75, too. But once you reach Onyx status, you get more perks, including the biggest — free shipping on every order, plus first access to select drops. And if you’re always shopping Skims, you know how quickly merchandise sells out.
How to Sign up for Skims Rewards
First, download the Skims app from the App Store for Apple or Google Play for Android devices.
Once you’ve done that, sign up with your email or sign in with your existing Skims.com info, and you’ll instantly be enrolled as a Marble member. For a limited time, existing customers will have orders they’ve made in the last 12 months count toward your membership status. For example, I’ve been a Skims shopper for a few years, and my status was instantly upgraded to Onyx after I downloaded the app and signed in. I’ll stay at this tier until the end of the year. So, for other frequent shoppers, you likely will, too.
If, for whatever reason, you’re not interested in being a member of the Skims loyalty program, you can “opt-out” by going to “settings” (top right corner) under your account within the app.
Ways To Qualify for the Skims Onyx Tier
Once you reach the Onyx tier, you’ll remain at that stay from the moment you qualify until the end of the following calendar year. To maintain this status, just requalify every calendar year. Your progress resets at the beginning of every calendar year.
Here’s the example Skims gives: When you qualify for Onyx on Jan. 10, 2024. You’ll stay an Onyx member for the rest of 2024 and all of 2025, but you’ll need to requalify in 2025 to be an Onyx member in 2026. Make sense?
If you didn’t get an upgrade to the Onyx tier based on your past purchases or you’re brand new to Skims, then there are ways to get to that top tier faster.
Make Four Skims Purchases
Just make four separate Skims purchases within a calendar year and you’ll reach the Onyx tier. This can be done online, through the app and in Skims stores only. Third-party retailers don’t count.
Spend $500 or More
Once you’ve spent $500 in a calendar year, you’re instantly upgraded from Marble to Onyx for the remainder of the year — and the following year, too.
Complete 10 Engagements
Skims gives shoppers the opportunity to complete 10 Engagement actions during a calendar year. Those opportunities are still evolving, but current ones include joining a waitlist, reviewing a product and dropping wishlist hints to friends, to name a few. Throughout the year, Skims might create specific Engagement challenges for Onyx members to receive additional personalized rewards, so keep checking back.
If you’ve engaged with Skims in these ways or others in the past, they don’t qualify. Only the ones you make after joining the rewards program will count.
How To Lose Your Skims Rewards Progression
There are a couple of ways to lose the progression you’ve made to the next tier or to maintain Onyx status:
- When you return a Skims purchase, any progression you’ve made will be deducted from your overall progression.
- If an item you’ve ordered is canceled or adjusted, the progress you made from that order will be reduced.
